Another Nephew...Crew Michael Thompson

On Monday the 31st we welcomed another boy to the Thompson family. I love to watch births and I am so thankful for awesome sister-in-laws that let me be a part of their special moment. I was talking to my sister-in-law Holly about how I love to watch a baby be born and she looked at me all disgusted and said GROSS!! How could you like to watch that. It got me thinking...Why do I like to watch it so much???? After thinking for a while it was clear. Watching your nephew come into the world and take his 1st breath of life is amazing but it's not just that. The raw emotion of a birth is what I love. I love watching the dad fidget or in both my brothers cases almost faint because he/they are so incredibly worried and can do absolutely nothing to help. I have experienced both sides. When Skye was born I felt like I was in the dad's role. So watching the guy reminds me of how intense it is to sit and watch your baby be born. I love the relief that comes over the mother and its not just because they don't have to be pregnant anymore but it also seems like they get this big satisfaction in knowing that they "DID IT". It was that satisfaction that I had craved for years and finally know the feeling. So it's not just the baby coming out...It's the emotions that I love.
I had a vision when I took these pictures that they would be in black and white and show all of the emotions. I did an alright job of capturing the emotions and the pictures telling the story but I did a terrible job at taking the pictures. I have to say, I am very disappointed in my photography here!!! The lighting was crazy in that room. It would be bright in one area of the room and dark in other areas. I can't tell you how many times I flipped back and forth on shutter speeds and apertures. It was a LOT harder than I thought it would be. So the pictures are way too noisy for my liking and over/underexposed. Not to mention that I was a little nervous and shaky. I wish I was better at photoshop so that I could clean them up better but I'm not a "photoshopographer" and with these pics I'm not sure I can call myself a photographer. However, I like the story they tell.
This is why I love to watch a baby be born....

I love Matt's face in this picture. Even though it didn't last long because they had to take Crew to the NICU because of excess fluids in his lungs. This look was replaced with the looks at the 1st of the pictures

I was about to erase this pic because it was so badly over exposed but then decided to just try it in BW and ended up really liking the dramatic effect it gives

Jen and Britt, I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate that you would let me be a part of the births. It means so much to me!!!! Like I have said before in previous post. I am so lucky to have the sister-in-laws that I have. My sister-in-laws are some of my best friends. How lucky am I to be able to have best friends as sister-in-laws????? Sorry I didn't get you better pictures Jen. I'll get some good ones of him with that awesome hair...Just wait. (He has a fro of long dark hair)
