A Big Sister Moment

Skye was so excited that she was able to give Tyke his 1st bottle. I already have a ton of milk in the freezer from the hospital stay  (Tyke didn't know how to suck the 1st couple of days so I had to pump and feed him with a syringe.) I want him to get use to bottles too, like Jordyn was. It gives me a little more freedom. I don't feel so tied down. So, I figured after being around everyone during the holiday parties, a little shot of colostrum wouldn't hurt. He actually took it really easy and Skye was loving the big sister moment. I'm guessing she will always be the one holding the bottle anytime I give him one.

Christmas Day

Skye woke up bright and early and was going crazy waiting for Jordyn to wake up. We made her wait until Jordyn was awake before she could open up her presents. Jordyn finally woke up and Skye tore into her presents so fast, that she was almost done before Jordyn even started. It was funny, Jordyn seemed so disinterested at 1st but then after she opened one she realized it was fun. Tyke spent his 1st Christmas looking adorable in his Christmas pj's that had a reindeer on the butt.

A New Tradition

Skye brought home an ornament from preschool that she had made. It had her picture in it and a few other things . It wasn't very cute picture but the idea was really cute. So I decided that it would be fun to start a new tradition and have the kids make their own ornaments with their pictures in them each year on Christmas Eve. I figure that it would make for a really fun Christmas tree a few years down the road. So on Christmas Eve we took some quick pictures of the kids before we went over to my parent's house and that night we came home and the girls stuffed their ornaments and put them on the tree before bed. They actually turned out pretty cute. I think it will make for a fun tradition.

"I get the hang of him"

Today my mom was telling Skye about the Christmas party that we were going to have tonight. She was telling her all about Santa coming and all of the cousins that were going to be there. She then said to Skye, "You're not going to be afraid to go sit on Santa's lap are you?" Skye replied to her saying, " It takes me a minute but then I get the hang of him." She is so funny!! I love the things that come out of her mouth.

Thompson Christmas Party

The Thompson Christmas party is usually a ton of fun and laughter. Whether it's Cheryl dive bombing onto her face playing the paper bag game or Bubba opening up the most feminine present in the gift game. It usually makes for a really fun night. This year was kind of a dud. Karaoke...really?? Who's idea was that? Thompson's don't karaoke. We need to go back to the games that we play each year. Maybe just do candy or something so no little kids get an adult gift and start crying. Santa Claus was the highlight of the night. He even came with an accent this year. He was very cute and very energetic! The kids sang songs with him and then they sat on his lap and got a present. The Dora and Mikey Mouse Christmas movies that Jordyn had been watching all month, must of helped her get to know who Santa was because she shocked us all. Not only did she go up to Santa on her own but she sat on his lap. She even stayed on his lap to open her gift. I was dying. I could not believe my eyes. Santa told a few stories and then it was time for him to get back to the North Pole. Jordyn then decided to go give the jolly man a hug good bye. SHOCKER number 2!! On the way home Skye was on cloud nine. She was going on and on about Santa. Then she seen a a red light (It was a tower with the red light for airplanes). She yelled, "Hey! I see Rudolph's nose!" Regan and I got a little chuckle out of it and let her think she was pretty lucky to be able to see Rudolph.

Tyke got a handful of Santa's beard. Luckily he didn't pull too hard.

Special little bond...

Before we had kids, we were up at the cabin and there was this near death experience book that I was reading. We had been dealing with infertility for a couple of years and at that point I had been begging Regan to just adopt. He had always wanted to adopt, that wasn't the issue but like many couples he wanted his 1st born to be biological and then adopt down the road. We both laugh about how silly it was now that we know biology makes absolutely no difference. So now back to the book. I read that with adoption it can sometimes be that a deceased loved one or a loved one on the other side has such a special bond with someone that they ask them to become part of their family. I don't know if it is even true but when I told Regan that, he paused then looked at me and said, "Ok, lets get going on adoption."We were both thinking of his brother or maybe his sister that had passed, would maybe play the role in helping us find the baby that was meant for our home. I'm sure that is why Regan had such a sudden change of heart. So time went on and we got our little Skye. The story from the book would come up from time to time, especially because Skye loved Ryan when she was a baby. She would always put her hands on his face and just stare at him. So we assumed it was because Ryan looks so much like their brother Randall who passed away and maybe just maybe he played a part in bringing Skye into our family. Then almost a year ago, Skye told me that we were going to have a baby brother and that my belly was going to fill up again. I have to admit, it freaked me out a little bit. I thought for sure something was going to be wrong with him. I kept thinking why did she need to know that he was coming, there has got to be something about him that she needs to prepare herself for. I was freaked out about it up until his birth. To my relief he is a perfectly healthy and very cute baby boy. When we brought Tyke home, Skye would not leave him alone and she still doesn't. She is constantly walking over to him and kissing or rubbing his head. I'm constantly telling her to leave him alone and let him sleep. Then I started noticing something as he got a little older and more alert. He is as crazy about her as she is him. He gets excited when he sees her face. His arms start go a mile a minute when she talks to him. He always coos to her and just stares at her with a look that I can't even describe. So I have now come to my own conclusion and I might be totally up in the night, but I think it was Tyke that made sure Skye came to us. Maybe that is why he came to let her know that he was coming. Maybe he was just excited to tell his dear friend that they would be together again soon. Whether I am right or completely off my rocker...It's food for thought and there is no doubt about the special bond they share.

Skye's Preschool Christmas Party

Skye had her school Christmas pajama party today. Regan even drove home from Bear Lake to come to it. Skye was so excited that daddy was coming. I think she was more excited about Regan being there than Santa. I realized why... She had her back turned when Santa came running in the class room yelling HO-HO-HO! I think it kind of scared her because she was scared to go sit on his lap and tell him what she wanted for Christmas. I usually don't have this issue with her. It shocked me how nervous she was acting. She finally got up the courage to go up to him with me standing right next to her. He was such a cute Santa!! He kept telling her how much she grew from last year and that she gets prettier every year. It didn't take her long to grow fond of him after that.

I used an app on my phone to make this picture look like this. I'm wanting to see if it prints out good. I'd like to find an app that makes phone pictures look good. One of these days I may just remember to take my actual camera.

1 Month Old and 1st Bath

I can't believe Tyke is already a month old. This last month has gone by so fast. I'm hoping time slows down a little bit. The 1st year always goes by way too fast for me. Tyke was finally able to have his first real bath on his 1 month birthday. His cord took 4 weeks to fall off so the poor little guy had to have sponge baths for the whole 1st month. He was liking his bath until the girls decided that they needed to help wash his hair and got water all over his face. Oh the joys of having 2 big sisters.

Of coarse Jordyn had to join him in the tub

The big helpers. Still trying to decide if that is a look of terror on his face.
